Eastern Shore Tourism Partners Take Home State Awards

Worcester County Tourism (WCT), along with area partners working together to promote Maryland’s Eastern Shore as a tourism destination, took home five awards at the 35th annual Maryland Tourism & Travel Summit in late October.

Maryland Economic Development Association Launches Rural Economic Development Sessions with Support from PNC Bank

Baltimore, Md. – The Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) will host its first Lower Eastern Shore Rural Economic Development Session on Nov. 19 and 20 at Salisbury University. The sessions will include presentations by public and private sector economic leaders who will stress the importance of investing in economic development in Maryland’s lower Eastern Shore counties and communities.

Worcester County Government offices closed November 11 in observance of Veterans Day

Worcester County Government offices and the Worcester County Recreation Center in Snow Hill will be closed Wednesday, November 11, 2015, in observance of Veterans Day and will resume standard operating hours on Thursday, Nov. 12.

All five branch libraries will be open, with standard operating hours in effect. Visit www.WorcesterLibrary.org for more information about the hours of operation at each branch.

Waterline flushing schedule in the Ocean Pines area

The Water and Wastewater Division of Public Works will begin its semi-annual program for flushing waterlines in Ocean Pines, River Run, Pennington Commons and other areas of the county during October. The purpose of this program is to remove any accumulated sediment from the lines and to ensure the hydrants are operational. Below are the proposed dates for the flushing of the waterlines. These dates are subject to change. 

VOLT Loan Informational Session Rescheduled

The Video Lottery Terminal (VOLT) small business loan information session has been rescheduled to take place at the Ocean Pines Branch Library on Friday, October 16, 2015, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Worcester County Economic Development (WCED), in partnership with the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation and Maryland Capital Enterprises, invites business owners and entrepreneurs to attend the session.

Inlet Lot and Beach Open, Clean-Up Continues

OCEAN CITY, MD – (October 5, 2015):  The Town of Ocean City is continuing clean-up today, as crews work diligently to move sand and restore the beach.  Although damage throughout the town is minimal, employees are conducting light debris removal and repairing damage to the fence along the Boardwalk.

Worcester Schedules Flu Vaccination Clinics

SNOW HILL, Md. – The Worcester County Health Department urges all residents age 6 months and older to get vaccinated for the 2015-2016 seasonal flu. 

This year’s vaccine provides protection against three strains of flu virus expected to circulate this season.  All people, including pregnant women and those with medical conditions, are strongly recommended to get a flu vaccine each year. 

Public Works Begins Recovery Efforts, Flooding Expected to Continue Through Monday

OCEAN CITY, MD – (October 4, 2015):  While reported damage from the storm system was minimal, Ocean City Public Works employees will be working through the next two weeks to restore areas of the city back to normal. Citizens are urged to avoid the boardwalk, beach and Inlet Lot to allow Public Works employees to easily clear those areas.
