Holiday Schedule for Worcester County Government

Worcester County Government (WCG) offices, including all five Library branches, Liquor Control administrative offices, and the Worcester County Recreation Center, will be closed Friday, April 14, 2017, for the Good Friday holiday, and will resume standard hours of operation Monday, April 17.

Shore Spirits retail liquor stores will be open during standard operating hours.

The Central Landfill in Newark will be closed Friday, April 14, but will be open Saturday, April 15. The Central Landfill is closed on Sundays.

Adult Sports Leagues Returning for Spring

            Worcester County Recreation and Parks Department is pleased to be hosting several Adult Sports leagues for our spring session. All Leagues are open to adults ages 18 and older. The available programs are as follows:

Spring Youth Outdoor Soccer Program Starting Soon

Worcester County Recreation and Parks (WCRC) is looking forward to starting another fun-filled season of Spring Youth Outdoor Soccer. Your child/children will practice basic soccer skills and be able to compete against teams from other local towns. 

Community Alert Signals to Sound Saturday, April 1

Saturday, April 1, Worcester County emergency alert signals will sound from area fire sirens. A steady alert tone will sound at 10:00 a.m. for approximately one minute. 

The signals are tested the first Saturday of each month. In the event of an actual emergency, the sirens would be used as additional means to warn the surrounding communities of imminent danger and the need to tune to either radio, television or the internet for information. 

A portion of Delaware Road to be closed for repairs

The Public Works Roads Division will be closing Delaware Road from Rollie Road eastward to the Delaware line from roughly March 16, 2017 through April 7 for culvert replacement and road work. This closure will not affect Hidden Harbor traffic ingress or egress to or from Delaware 54. For more information regarding this road closure, please contact Roads Superintendent Frank J.
