Expanded Services for Cancer Care Announced for Worcester County

Berlin, Md. – The town of Berlin has approved construction of a new comprehensive cancer care center, Atlantic General Hospital executives announced today. 

The new 18,000-square-foot facility, which will sit on the corner of Rt. 113 and Old Ocean City Boulevard, will provide one centrally-located, convenient facility for the care and treatment of individuals with cancer and blood disorders.

Worcester County offers cooling stations and urges public to recognize symptoms of heat-related conditions

July 25, 2016, with heat indices through Saturday expected to range from 95 to 105, the public is invited to escape the heat by visiting the Worcester County Recreation Center (WCRC) in Snow Hill as well as any of the five Worcester County branch libraries in Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Berlin, Snow Hill and Pocomoke. Senior citizens over the age of 55 may also seek relief from the heat at any of the four Worcester County Senior Centers, which are located in Ocean City, Berlin, Snow Hill and Pocomoke, during standard operating hours.

Four-Way Stop Sign Goes Up at Sunset Ave and Golf Course Road in West OC

Worcester County Public Works officials installed four-way stop signs at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and Golf Course Road in West Ocean City on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, to improve traffic conditions.

Motorists should slow down and exercise caution when approaching the intersection, while the public adjusts to this new traffic pattern.

Ceremony to highlight accoplishments of youth in summer STEM programs

The public is invited to join Worcester County Economic Development (WCED) and elected officials at the Performing Arts Center in Ocean City on July 28, 2016 at 2 p.m. to recognize the accomplishments of 58 Worcester County middle school, high school, and university students who participated in the WCED Step Up and Reach for the Stars STEM summer programs. During the ceremony, students will discuss their individual and team experiences in one of the three STEM programs and how those experiences may affect their future academic and career goals.

July 7, 2016, with heat indices through Saturday expected to be around 100 degrees, the public is invited to escape the heat by visiting the Worcester County Recreation Center (WCRC) in Snow Hill as well as any of the five Worcester County branch libraries, located in Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Berlin, Snow Hill and Pocomoke, during standard operating hours.
