Worcester County Sheriff's Office Community Policing Divsion
The Community Policing Division of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office was instituted to foster a value system between the Sheriff’s Office and the Citizens of Worcester County. The Sheriff instituted this program as a link between Citizens and Deputies county wide.
Community Policing has a positive history of reducing crime in neighborhoods and reducing fear of crime by enhancing the quality of life in the community. Community Policing works because it combines the resources of the Sheriff’s Office with people that reside in the community.
Some examples that are currently in place at the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office are as follows:
- Triad, assisting elderly by providing education and meetings to further enhance lifestyles for our citizens.
- Community Crime Watches, in remote areas to prevent crime from occurring.
- Innovative problem solving within the communities.
- Back to School programs
- “Stay in School, Stay off Drugs” awareness.
- Home Security Surveys
- Crime Watch signs and materials to prevent crime from occurring.
- Community Events.
- Assist local Churches with safety presentations.
- “Safety Pup” for classroom, special events, available upon request. Safety Pup is a character that primarily focuses on safety around the community, school and home.
The Sheriff has stated numerous times, “It is my duty to insure the communities of Worcester County remain safe and a great place to raise your family.” By so doing, the Community Policing Division is charged with providing the very best coverage for small communities that we serve. The Neighborhood Watch Program has been reinstituted and will be returning in full force to the small areas of Worcester County. Deputies will arrange meetings in rural areas to meet with citizens to discuss needs and concerns. These meetings are meant to foster the relationship of the Sheriff’s Office with the you, the Citizen. We care about your community; we care about you; that’s why we serve.
