Worcester County Declaration of Emergency remains in place, officials to continue monitoring storm surge at high tides through Monday night

With Tropical Storm Hermine moving east away from the Atlantic Coast, the Worcester County Emergency Services (WCES) Emergency Operations Center in Snow Hill has discontinued emergency staffing levels and has resumed standard operations.

Please be advised that the Worcester County Declaration of Emergency remains in place, and WCES staff will continue to monitor the effects of storm surge on the County’s inland and coastal waterways during high tide cycles through Monday night.

Assateague will remain closed as long as there are tropical storm warnings in effect. The remaining parks, Janes Island, Pocomoke and Point Look Out will be opening. The National Seashore of Assateague will be opening the North Day Use area, but not for camping.
