Fire Damages Griffin Road Berlin Home

The Worcester County Fire Marshal's Offfice is investigating a fire which occurred at 10322 Griffin Road in Berlin, Maryland.  Arriving firefighters found heavy smoke and fire showing from the one story single family home.   The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the east side of the house.  However, not after doing substantial damage to the home.  Fire Departments from Berlin, Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Newark, Showell, Bishopville and Willards responded to the two box alarm type fire response.  The house is owned by Jeanette Hudson of Philadelphia, PA, who was at home at the time of the fire.  A total of 3 people were inside the house when the fire was discovered.  All escaped and there were no injuries reported in the 10:33AM fire.  The fire started on the exterior of the home and spread up the side and into the attic area of the home.  The cause of the fire is listed as undetermined at this time.  Anyone with information regarding the fire is asked to contact Fire Marshal Jeff McMahon at 410.632.5666 or jmcmahon@co.worcester.md.us.
