Snow Hill Apartment Fire Displaces Five

The Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a fire which was dispatched on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 2:06PM. Fire companies from Snow Hill, Stockton, Girdletree, Pocomoke, Newark and Berlin responded to the two alarm fire. The fire occurred in a first floor unit located at 500 Maple Street, New Hope Village, Apartment 3. The fire extended into a second floor apartment. A total of 5 people were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross is assisting those displaced with temporary housing and clothing. No injuries were reported with the fire. The apartments were occupied by 27 year old Orneviano Whaley, 44 year old Sandra Merrill, and two children ages 6 and a child 5 months old. Units remained on the scene for two hours.
