Lifestyle Balance Classes Come to Snow Hill in September

Snow Hill, MD- Get fit, lose weight, and improve your health with certified lifestyle coaches through group sessions beginning September 15 in Snow Hill. The Lifestyle Balance Program is a proven program that has been effective in reducing the risk for type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases, assisting in weight loss and maintenance of a healthy body weight, and decreasing the risk for heart disease and stroke.  The Worcester County Health Department is able to offer this program with funding provided by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene/Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control.

The Health Department has been providing this program since July 2009. Since that time, program participants have lost a combined total of over 3,500 pounds; and have noticed an improvement in blood pressure, body fat and cholesterol levels as a result of program participation. When asked about the effectiveness of the program, recent participants have stated, “I am so thankful for this program. I truly believe it helped to save my life”; and “This program has improved my health significantly, I feel.”

The Lifestyle Balance Program, a year long program is taught by CDC National Diabetes Prevention Program trained instructors including a Registered Dietitian, and health educators, will be offered at the Snow Hill Health Center, 6040 Public Landing Road, Snow Hill, starting on September 15, 2016.  The program will meet on Thursdays   from 12-1:00 pm for 16 weeks. The group will continue to meet once/month for six months following conclusion of the initial 16-week core education program. Each session will include an education component and participation in physical activity.

All participants receive their own personal lifestyle change coach who will assist them with goal setting, progress, and overcoming barriers. To learn more about the program or to enroll, please call 410-632-0056.
