The Worcester County Library has added two new programs to our “Choose Civility Campaign” itinerary. During the month of April, the library will accept personal care items in lieu of overdue fines. Each item donated will clear $2.00 in fine fees. The library is looking for items such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo, feminine hygiene products, and deodorant. Travel size items will be accepted. Items must be new and unused. Items will be donated to Diakonia, a transitional housing facility in West Ocean City. Fine forgiveness is an opportunity for the community to reconnect with the library and help an important local organization; everybody wins!
The library is also excited to announce that “The Kindness Bus” will be visiting at all five branches of the Worcester County Library System on April 30, May 1 and May 2. The goal of “The Kindness Bus” is to teach people to perform One Million Acts of Kindness in their life. The program teaches us to find the kindness and passion in our hearts to help someone in need. Let’s start a kindness movement in Worcester County today. By living in kindness, we will discover the happiness that it can bring to us and those around us. Adults and teenagers can set the example for young children to emulate. Nothing could be more important in the world than this. The bus schedule is April 30: Berlin Branch at 10:30 am and Snow Hill Branch at 4 pm. May 1: Ocean City Branch at 10:30 am and Ocean Pines Branch at 5 pm. May 2: Pocomoke Branch at 4 pm.
Join us for these along with many other “Choose Civility” programs this spring. Don’t forget to pick up your civility passport for a chance to win the grand prize in May. For more information, please visit www.WorcesterLibrary.org or call 410-632-3970.
