On Saturday, March 23, 2024, the Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to the 100 block of Nottingham Lane for a reported residential structure fire. Upon the arrival of the first fire units, smoke was observed extending from the dwelling. The occupant advised everyone had the exited the dwelling except for some family pets. The fire was quickly contained to the kitchen area. Ocean Pines FD was assisted by the Showell, Berlin, Bishopville, and Selbyville Volunteer Fire Companies. Deputies from the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office responded and conducted a thorough fire scene examination. It was determined the fire originated in the oven and the cause was accidental. The fire company remained on the scene for approximately two hours. One firefighter was injured during suppression operations. The injured firefighter was transported to AGH by Ocean Pines EMS and was treated and released.
