Worcester County Election Information

IMPORTANT ELECTION INFORMATION

 

Election Dates

Primary Election – June 24, 2014; Polls open 7 am to 8 pm                                                           (Early Voting June 14th through June 19th                                                                                                 Saturday, Monday through Thursday open 10 am to 8 pm; Sunday open 12 noon to 6 pm)

General Election - November 4, 2014; Polls open 7 am to 8 pm                                                       (Early Voting October 25th through October 30th                                                                                 Saturday, Monday through Thursday open 10 am to 8 pm; Sunday open 12 noon to 6 pm)

The Worcester County Board of Elections (WCBOE) conducts Federal, State and County elections on every even numbered year.

According to State Board of Elections policy, the first day an individual may file a Certificate of Candidacy is April 9, 2013 at 8:00 am.

Voter Registration Dates:

The deadline to register to vote in the Primary Election is June 2nd.  The deadline to register to vote in the General Election is October 14th.  Our Office will be open until 9 p.m. on those dates.

Voter registration applications are available at all libraries, post offices, Motor Vehicle Department, schools, city halls and state offices, or you can call our office and request an application to be mailed to you.  You can also download a voter registration application at http://www.elections.state.md.us/voter_registration/application.html

You can register to vote in Worcester County if you will be 18 years of age or older by November 4, 2014. 

To Change your Name or Address:

You can use the Voter Registration Application mentioned above to change your name and address, or you can call our office and we will send you a form to change your name or address.  We must have your signature on the form before we can make any changes to your registration.

How do I verify my registration?

You are considered a registered voter when you receive your Voter Notification Card from your local board of elections. If you do not receive your card three weeks after you submit an application, you should contact our office.
You can verify your registration online at www.elections.state.md.us
Registration is permanent as long as you continue to live in Maryland and keep your name and address current with your local board of elections. You do not have to re-register when you move within the State, but you must keep your address current.

Absentee Ballot Application Information:

Call the Board of Elections to request an Absentee Ballot Application.  We will begin accepting absentee ballot applications for the 2014 Elections beginning December 2, 2013.  An Absentee Ballot Application is available from the WCBoE and is also available online at www.elections.state.md.us.  Absentee Ballot Applications must be submitted no later than 7 days before an election.  Absentee Ballots must be received by our office on Election Day.  The Absentee Ballots are usually available to vote 45 days prior to the election.  Please allow ample time for mailing the application and ballot.  Additional postage may be required to return your voted ballot by mail.

Election Judges Needed!

Our office is currently recruiting for Election Judges to work at the polling places on Election Day.  The hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for both Primary and General Election Days.    You cannot leave the polling place during Election Day, so you will need to plan for meals.  You must work both Elections and attend a mandatory training class.  The current rate of pay for Election Judges is $165 per Election.  If you would like more information, please call our office.
