MISSION STATEMENT
The Worcester County Department of Emergency Services will strive to provide the citizens and visitors to Worcester County and surrounding jurisdictions with professional, efficient and timely responses to request for service. It is our goal to constantly strive for excellence in the field of Public Safety through Emergency Communications and Emergency Management.
OUR RESPONSIBILITY
The Worcester County Department of Emergency Services is a multifaceted agency that provides 9-1-1 services along with management of the countywide 800 MHz radio system providing communications to emergency responders as well as many county government departments through Emergency Communications. Disaster preparedness, response, mitigation and recovery are handled through its Emergency Management Division. The office is also responsible for assignment of numeric addresses in the unincorporated areas of the county. The Emergency Services department, through its three divisions, works hand in hand with all county and state law enforcement agencies, Worcester County Volunteer Fire and EMS departments, as well as all Local, State and Federal Government departments and agencies. The facility and personnel are second to none, and are ready to serve residents and visitors at a moments notice.
Worcester County Emergency Services is responsible for a numberof planning activities aimed at enhancing the County's preparedness for disasters and emergencies. Probably the most visible product of those planning activities is the Basic Emergency Operations Plan, the comprehensive, all-hazard plan that coordinates the emergency management activities of Worcester County Government. Although the Basic Plan addresses all phases of emergency management, it is specifically oriented toward preparedness and response activities. The Plan is a policy document developed and maintained by this department and adopted by the Worcester County Commissioners.
